E3 2020 has been cancelled due to the state of emergency over the virus (ESA)

  • “After careful consultation with our member companies regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry—our fans, our employees, our exhibitors and our longtime E3 partners—we have made the difficult decision to cancel E3 2020, scheduled for June 9-11 in Los Angeles,” they are trying to ”coordinate an online experience to showcase industry announcements and news in June 2020.”
  • A lot of companies have said that they will work on a digital experience to share news

Ori and the Will of the Wisps released on Wednesday of this week and Nioh 2 releases today!

Call of Duty: Warzone = a stand alone game released on March 10 with two modes (GameSpot)

  • This is free to play for everyone and is cross play between Xbox, Playstation, and PC
  • Xbox Live Gold is required to play on Xbox but PS Plus is not required for PlayStation
  • Has two modes that are Battle Royale and Plunder
  • The Battle Royale mode is mostly like Blackout but with a few interesting twists
    • 150 people, one world, different ways to kill with vehicles and environment 
    • Drop in as solo, in a duo, or as a trio all up to you
    • cash is found in the world and be spent at buy stations shown as a shopping cart
    • The coolest change is the addition of what I call the last stand feature
      • First time you get eliminated you are sent to a new location – the Gulag
      • here you fight another eliminated player 1v1 to get respawn in the game
  • Plunder is the mode where the mission is the get the most money doing objectives
    • You can steal or loot from other people and do different types of contracts
    • Both modes take place on the same map and there are different types of vehicles
  • Your progress from Warzone carries over to and from the rest of multiplayer

(DPOODLY) Renegades, an esports team has lost some staff members this week due to an allegedly abusive management team (win.gg)

  • They have rosters is 7 games including CS:GO, Smash Bros, and Overwatch
  • These are other staff members, not the players. 7 out of the 8 staff left to protest the CEOs behavior. 
  • He had been accused of being verbally abusive, generally treating the employee like shit and threatening them in order to push the results he wants
  • The employees have felt like, they do not have a voice in the company
  • There have also been claims that Renegade is often late on payments to employees, talent, and players while also using their paycheck as a means to threaten them into producing the results management is looking for

Nintendo and LEGO had a partnership to make interactive Mario toys.

  • Basically using legos you can recreate Mario levels and the special electronic Mario figure will interact with the world you built (i.e. keeping track of enemies you beat or coins you aquire)
